Fred Anthony

Mr. Anthony was born in Pickens, SC on March 21, 1961 to the late William Alvin and Geneva Elizabeth Ramey Anthony. A precious, loving brother, he was one of 11 children and enjoyed his family, his home, and spending time with his friends. Fred was beloved and respected by all who knew him, and many people throughout the community have been affected by his kindness and generosity throughout the years. A man with a heart to serve the community, he began driving a school bus for Pickens High School, and from there, went to the Pickens County EMS where he retired with numerous years of service as their Director. Fred also was a member of the Pickens Volunteer Rescue Squad for over 25 years, and in his free time enjoyed "riding around his back 40". Fred didn't want to retire completely, so he began working part-time with Adventure Golf Carts in Piedmont where he served in their service department. He was loved and respected by many, and will be greatly missed.

Mr. Anthony is survived by his three siblings: Irene Anthony Dyches (Jimmy) of Pickens, Diane Hebb (Arch) of Pickens, and Dennis Anthony of Pickens; two sisters-in-law: Linda Anthony of Pickens and Shirley White of West Union; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and special friends.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Anthony was preceded in death by seven siblings: Durrell Anthony, Larry Anthony, David Anthony, Truman Anthony, Johnny Anthony, Dwaine Anthony, and Carson Anthony.

The family will host a service to celebrate and honor Fred's life at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at "Fred's Back 40".

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the EMMA K.A.P.P Project, Sponsored by the Pickens County EMS: c/o Lane Wood: 12 Ridgeland Drive, Liberty, SC, 29657.

Chester Atkins

Chester Douglas Atkins. 24, of Route No. 1, Pickens, died Saturday in Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Born in Pickens County, a son of Edgar and Sara Nell Atkins of Pickens. He was a logger and a member of Blue Ridge View Baptist Church.

Surviving are his parents; a son, Zane Douglas Atkins of the Dacusville Community; a brother, Dexter Atkins of Easley; four sisters, Mrs. Judy Howard, Mrs. Gail Anthony, Mrs. Dianne Newton, and Mrs. Sally Murrell, all of Pickens; grandfather D.E. Looper, Easley; and step-grandmother, Mrs. Gertrude Looper of Easley.

Funeral services will be Monday at 2:00 pm at the Blue Ridge View Baptist Church with Rev. Barry Dillworth, burial will be in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Dale Cisson, David Cox, Charlie Anthony, Bobby Abercrombie, Dan O'Bryant, and Richard O'Bryant.

Honorary Escorts will be the Tom's Softball Team and the Blue Ridge View Men's Softball Team.

The body is at the Dillard Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Sunday from 1-3 pm and will be placed in the church at 1:30 pm Monday.

The family is at the home of a brother, Dexter Atkins, Old Farrs Bridge Road, Easley.

Mary Kate Reese (Bagwell)

Mary Kate Reese

Dr. Mary Kate Reese, 62 of Cumming, GA passed away peacefully at home in the early morning of September 25, 2024. She was born in Hopewell, Virginia in 1962 and went on to become a loving wife, mother, friend and golden retriever lover. After graduating from Furman University, she located to Georgia where she earned her doctoral degree in Counseling at Georgia State University.

Dr. Reese was a Licensed Professional Counselor and Counselor Educator, most recently at Walden University. She received the Outstanding Teaching Award from the Association of Counselor Education and the Counselor Educator of the Year by the Licensed Professional Counselor’s Association in 2013.

Mary Kate was known for her fearless advocacy for loved ones, clients, students and colleagues. She loved passionately and worked tirelessly to be a positive influence on the counseling profession and world at large. She loved all things purple, horseback riding, true crime podcasts, and Alanis Morissette.

Mary Kate was preceded in death by her parents Benjamin and Jane Bagwell and is survived by her husband, Don, her daughter, Cassie, her son, Chase, her brother, Ben, her goddaughter, Hannah, her son-in-law, David, and two beloved dogs, Koa and Kiya.

Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 12:00 Saturday September 28, 2024, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 12:00 PM In the Ingram Funeral Home Chapel. Wear something purple! Donations in her name may be made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation at give.bcrf.org

Cynthia Ann Holder (Bolding)

Ann Holder Pickens, SC Cynthia "Ann" Bolding Holder, 50, of 403 Garvin Street, passed away Sunday, February 26, 2012. Born in Anderson County, she was the daughter of Margaret Norris Bolding of Pickens and the late Charles Bolding. Ann was a homemaker and member of Bethany Church of God. Surviving is her husband, George H. Holder of the home; a daughter, April Dodgens (Stephen) of Pickens; a son, Matt Holder (Misty) of Pickens; three grandchildren, Madison, Maggie-Grace, and Jonathan Holder; and a brother, Stanley Bolding. In addition to her father, she was predeceased by a brother, Sammy Bolding. A service to celebrate Ann's life will be held on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home with burial to follow in Cedar Hill Holiness Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 PM until 1:30 PM at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made to the family. Keith John Cassell, 44, of 7025 Highway 11, died Friday, May 26, 2006, at his home.

Born in Pickens County, a son of Douglas and Carol Fisher Cassell of Sunset, Mr. Cassell was formerly employed with Champion Aerospace and attended Tanglewood Pentecostal Holiness Church. He served with US Army National Guard in Pendleton for eight years.

Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his wife, Wanda Jenkins Cassell of the home; a son, B.J. Entrekin of the home; three daughters, Monica Langston and her husband, Jay, of Clemson, Shelli Holcombe and her husband, Rockie, of Powdersville and Jena Cassell of Pickens; a brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Cheryl Cassell of Sunset; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Doris and Donnie Whitmire and Pam and Tim Smith, all of Sunset, and Vickie and J.J. Perez of Liberty; four grandchildren, Tyler, Jaylin and Brooklyn Langston, and Ethan Holcombe.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown, Easley, with Preachers Billy Bates and Danny Perry officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family is at the home of his parents, Douglas and Carol Cassell, 6988 Highway 11, Sunset, SC 29671.

Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown, Easley, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Kimberly Vinson (Crenshaw)

Kimberly Sue Crenshaw Vinson, 53, went home to be with her Lord, Wednesday, September 10, 2014. She was surrounded by her loving family and friends.


Kimberly was born in Pickens County, daughter of Tommy Joe and Trudy Searcy Crenshaw. She was employed with The School District of Pickens County as a sixth grade language arts teacher at Pickens Middle School. Kimberly was a member of Secona Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Clemson University and received her Master’s from Nova University.

Kimberly loved spending time with her family and fellow educators, and she loved her students very much. Her beautiful smile will be missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Kimberly is survived by her daughter, Channing Vinson, sons, Connor Vinson and Chandler Vinson, and two step-sons, Derek Vinson and Brandon Vinson, and a special friend, Lem Blackwell.

The family will receive friends from 10 AM to 11:45 AM Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Dillard Funeral Home in Pickens. A graveside service will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens at 12 Noon.

Jane O'Brien (Crowe)

Pickens - Jane J. O'Brien, 57, of Pickens went to be with her Lord on Saturday September 1, 2018 in Greenville, S.C. Born in Greenville S.C., she is the daughter of Bennie and Shelby Crowe.

Ms. O'Brien was very loved by her family and friends. By profession, she was a buyer and planner in the automotive industry. 

Survivors include her parents, one daughter: Jaclyn Payne and her husband Ryan of Easley, her fiancé: Charlie Cordell of Pickens, and one brother: Tony Crowe and his wife Jo Ann of Pickens. She also leaves to share in her memory, Moe, her beloved fur baby.

A visitation will be held Wednesday September 5, 2018 from 1pm until 2pm at Dillard Funeral Home.

Services will follow in the funeral home chapel at 2pm. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Pickens.

Jane, We grew up together, we had chicken pox together, we spent every Friday night at each other's homes for many years. Meeting in the middle of our homes on bikes, had picnics and went to movies. Everything about my childhood memories includes you. I still cannot believe you are gone. But you will never be forgotten. ð

Regina Reece (Day)

Regina Leigh Day Reece, 53, of Loch Lomond Drive, passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Born on September 12, 1961 in Pickens County, she was the daughter of the late Weldon and Louise Mullinax Day.

Regina had a loving heart. She was the Certification Director for the SC Free Clinic Association. She previously was employed with Blue Ridge Cooperative and was the Director of the Pickens County Free Clinic. She was a member of Pickens First Baptist Church where she participated in the Hand Bell Choir and worked with the Children's Choir.

Regina's life and fight with Cancer exemplified her strength and unwavering faith; she was a perfect example of God's love.

Surviving are her husband, William Ray Reece; her children, Mattison Reece, Kaeleigh Reece and Johnathan Reece; a brother, Bobby Day (Selena); sisters, Sandra Hinton (Dan) and Pati Moore (Charlie) all of Pickens.

A service to celebrate Regina's life will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at 3:30 PM at Pickens First Baptist Church with burial to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM in the church social hall.

Gregory Alan Dickard, 18, of 204 Holder St., was killed in a traffic accident on the Easley Bypass Wednesday.

He was a son of Ray H. and Modenia Lewis Dickard, a 1979 graduate of Pickens High School, member of First Baptist Church, and an employee of Engineered Custom Plastics.

Surviving also are brothers Mike, Gary, and David Dickard of the home; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Lewis and Nettie Dickard of Pickens; and great-grandmothers, Cornelia Childress of Seneca and Ida Lewis of Easley.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Pickens First Baptist Church; burial in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends 7-9 pm Thursday at Dillard Funeral Home.
